NDT

Every test, fully traceable

Ultrasonic, radiography, magnetic particle, dye penetrant: every non-destructive testing (NDT) method carries its own calibration and certification requirements. Papertrail keeps every technician's competency and every instrument's calibration record in one place, ready whenever a client or auditor asks for proof.

Calibration and competency, tracked as the separate things they are

  • Schedule Manager

Calibration and inspection schedules per instrument, each with its own checklist, certificate and list of who's authorised to sign it off, with alerts before anything falls due.

  • Scanning (NFC/QR)

Tag every probe, gauge and instrument and pull up its calibration and inspection history, even offline in a synced account.

  • Checklist Editor

Build a separate checklist for each method, ultrasonic, radiography, magnetic particle, dye penetrant, rather than forcing every inspection through one generic template.

  • Certificates

Every calibration produces a certificate carrying the actual test data your method requires, not just a pass or fail stamp, filed automatically against the instrument.

Quicker on site, ready for the audit

Glacier Energy provides engineering, inspection and NDT services across oil and gas, renewables and industrial sites. Applus+ operates in more than 70 countries and carries out rope access, non-destructive testing and statutory turbine inspections.

  • “We recently had our highest ever audit score of 97.8% thanks in part to the adoption of Papertrail within our business.”

    Dave Jensen

    QHSE Director, Glacier Energy

  • “Whether that be in an audit or whether that just be from a user contacting one of the materials controllers and saying, 'I need the calibration certificate, the client's asking for it,' you could pretty much bring it up instantly and send it to them, and it's not a long-winded affair.”

    James Brook

    Rope Access Technical Authority, Applus+

Share calibration certificates and test records with clients, without re-sending them

PartnerHub connects your account to the organisations you work with, so they see the records you share, and every update to them, in their own workspace.

  1. Invite

Invite a client, a calibration lab or a subcontracted technician into a PartnerHub partnership

  2. See

They see the live record in their own workspace, with its full history from creation onwards, not a certificate exported last time

  3. Revoke

Revoke access and the record disappears from their view immediately, without ending the partnership

Aligned to the standards NDT technicians and instruments answer to

Every NDT method, ultrasonic, radiography, magnetic particle, dye penetrant, carries its own calibration and certification requirements. Papertrail tracks the technician's certification and the instrument's calibration as separate records, each on its own renewal schedule, with the calibration certificate attached, so neither lapses without warning.

Frequently asked questions

Will my team actually adopt it?

Papertrail is built around the inspection your technicians already do: scan the tag, work through the checklist, save. When you have a question, support's average first response time is under 8 minutes.

How fast can we migrate from spreadsheets or another system?

Your account does not start empty. Papertrail builds new accounts from industry-specific templates, so your account opens with the folder structure, inspection frequencies, equipment states and record blueprint suited to your business, not a blank account you configure yourself. Bringing your existing equipment list and inspection history across is a separate step, and support helps you do it.

Do technician certification and instrument calibration need separate tracking?

Yes. A technician's personal certification and an instrument's calibration are different records with different renewal cycles, so Papertrail tracks them separately, each with its own schedule and an alert before it lapses.

What standard is NDT technician certification checked against?

In the UK, NDT personnel are typically certified against EN ISO 9712, delivered through schemes such as BINDT's PCN. Papertrail records the certification and its expiry date against the technician, whichever scheme issued it.
