TURBINE-MOUNTED SAFETY

Statutory records for every turbine-mounted safety component

Schedule the statutory inspection, the maintenance and the certificate for every turbine-mounted safety component, all against one record. Each component runs its own schedule against LOLER, PUWER or PSSR, whichever applies to it, so a busy quarter on one turbine doesn't mean a missed check on another.

The inspections get done. Proving they were done is the part that costs you.

Every turbine-mounted safety component, inspected on its own schedule

  • A statutory inspection slips through the gaps. A turbine carries dozens of safety components, each on its own interval, and a spreadsheet doesn't flag which one is due this week.

  • A fault found on inspection has nowhere to go. Without a task attached to the record, a defect noted during one visit is easy to lose before the next.

  • An auditor asks for one unit's history, and the answer means a filing-cabinet search. Certificates scattered across email and folders aren't evidence you can produce on the day it's asked for.

Every turbine-mounted component, on its own inspection clock

  • Inspection Records For Every Component

See the inspection history, maintenance record and certificates for every turbine-mounted component in one place, not scattered across separate systems.

  • A Schedule For Every Component

Set the inspection interval for each turbine-mounted component individually, so you get a reminder before a check falls due rather than finding out after.

  • Maintenance Tasks, Assigned And Tracked

Turn a defect found on inspection into a task: assign it, track it to close, and see its progress against the record it came from. Task Manager is an add-on, not included in a free trial.

  • Certificates Built From Your Checklist

Checklists aligned to LOLER, PUWER and PSSR, or build your own with the Checklist Editor on Expert and Enterprise. Every completed checklist produces a certificate, filed against the component automatically.

Your turbine safety records, visible to whoever needs them

PartnerHub connects your account to the organisations you work with, so they see the records you share, and every update to them, in their own workspace.

  1. Invite

Invite the site operator or the specialist contractor who carries out your turbine rope-access and height inspections into a PartnerHub partnership

  2. See

They see the live record in their own workspace, with its full history from creation onwards, not a certificate emailed after the last visit

  3. Updates

Every new inspection, activity and task on a shared record appears automatically for everyone with access

  4. Withdraw

Withdraw access at any time: they keep a read-only copy of the record as it stood, with no further updates

Every turbine-mounted component, inspected to the right rules

Different equipment on a turbine falls under different regulations. The service lift carries people, so LOLER regulation 9 requires a thorough examination at least every 6 months, and a davit crane lifting loads needs one at least every 12. Fall-arrest anchors come under the Work at Height Regulations 2005.

In Papertrail, each component can have its own record and schedule. Your inspection contractor can see what's due on a turbine before they climb it and record the inspection in the nacelle, even with no signal.

Frequently asked questions

Will my team actually adopt it?

Papertrail is built around the inspection your team already does: scan a tag, work through the checklist, save. RWE's technicians are working in it after a half-hour session, and Hogan Group runs it across a team aged 18 to 79 on minimal training. When questions come up, our support team's average first response time is under 8 minutes.

Can you migrate us from spreadsheets or another system?

Our team handles the data migration for you, so your turbine safety register is ready to work with rather than waiting on you to key it in. We set up your folder structure, frequencies and states with you first, and help bring your existing component records and certificates across from a spreadsheet or your current system.

How often does LOLER require a thorough examination for turbine-mounted lifting equipment?

It depends on what the component is used for. LOLER Regulation 9 sets a 6-month interval for lifting equipment and accessories used to lift people, and for lifting accessories generally, and a 12-month interval for other lifting equipment, unless a written examination scheme sets a different interval. A turbine's hoists and man-riding equipment usually sit on the 6-month interval, so Papertrail runs each component on its own schedule rather than one fixed interval for the whole unit.

Does LOLER cover the fall-arrest anchors on a turbine?

Not on their own. LOLER covers equipment that lifts or lowers a load, so a fall-arrest anchor whose only job is to arrest a fall sits under the Work at Height Regulations 2005 instead. If the same anchor is also rigged to raise or lower a person, for rescue or work positioning, LOLER applies to that use as well. Papertrail records each anchor against whichever regulation its actual use calls for, not a single default.

Do you cover PSSR for pressurised components as well as LOLER and PUWER?

Yes. Where a turbine-mounted component is part of a pressure system, it needs its own written scheme of examination under PSSR, separate from any LOLER or PUWER schedule the same turbine also runs. Papertrail records whichever schedule and standard your written scheme sets for that specific component, rather than assuming every unit on a turbine is inspected the same way.

We work onshore and offshore, often with no signal. Does scanning work out there?

Yes, within a single synced account. Tag each turbine-mounted component with an NFC tag, QR code or barcode, and its record and history are available offline once the account has synced, so a technician can pull it up in a nacelle or on a platform with no signal. Searching across all accounts at once needs a connection.
