Easy for the whole crew to pick up, on every site
Hogan Group runs quarrying, asphalt, concrete and roadworks operations, and printed roughly 150 checklists a week before switching to Papertrail. Papertrail built custom modules for each of those operations.

“Papertrail is exceptionally user-friendly and intuitive. The software requires minimal training for our diverse team members, ranging from 18 to 79 year olds. Its ease of use has optimised our processes and made it effortless for everyone, regardless of age or background.”

Built around the standards mining and quarrying teams are inspected against
Mining and quarrying sites run a mix of plant, lifting gear and PPE. Most of it falls under LOLER, which requires thorough examination of lifting equipment, or PUWER, which covers work equipment generally. Quarries also answer to the Quarries Regulations 1999, and mines to the Mines Regulations 2014. Papertrail can run each as its own schedule, with its own checklist, certificate and list of who's authorised to sign it off.

Frequently asked questions
Will crews on site actually use it, not just the office?
Yes. An inspection is a scan, a checklist and a save, on a phone or tablet on site. It works offline in a synced account, so a patchy signal at the pit face or underground doesn't stop an inspection.
How fast can we get every site set up, not just one?
Your account does not start empty. Papertrail builds new accounts from industry-specific templates, so your account opens with the folder structure, inspection frequencies, equipment states and record blueprint suited to your operations, rather than a blank account you configure yourself. Bringing your existing equipment list and inspection history across is a separate step, and we help you do it.
Does Papertrail cover LOLER and PUWER separately, or do we need two systems?
One system. Lifting gear such as cranes, winches and hoists falls under LOLER; plant and other work equipment falls under PUWER. Papertrail runs each as its own schedule, with its own checklist, certificate and authorised signatories, on the same account.
Does this cover PPE and equipment like gas detectors and fall-arrest equipment, or only lifting gear?
Both, and everything in between. Checklists adapt to whatever equipment categories your site runs, from lifting gear to PPE such as gas detectors and fall-arrest equipment, each on its own schedule with its own certificate. Manufacturer-approved checklists cover the 120+ brands already in the Papertrail Product Directory, and the Checklist Editor, on Expert and Enterprise, covers anything site-specific beyond that.
