Frequently asked questions
Will crews actually use it offshore or on a plant, not just in the office?
Yes. An inspection is a scan, a checklist and a save, on a phone or tablet on site, working even offline in a synced account until signal returns. When a question comes up, Petrofac's Lee Walker sums up support this way: "If we have an issue, it takes two or three minutes to get through to Support and they're always ready to help."
How fast can we get our existing equipment register into Papertrail?
Your account doesn't start empty. Papertrail builds new accounts from industry-specific templates, so your account opens with the folder structure, inspection frequencies, equipment states and record blueprint suited to your operations, not a blank account you configure yourself. Bringing your existing equipment list and inspection history across is a separate step, and we help you do it.
Does Papertrail cover MODU alongside LOLER, or do we need two systems?
One system. Mobile offshore drilling units are certified to the IMO MODU Code; the cranes and lifting equipment on them, on fixed installations and across your onshore plant, fall under LOLER.
