The inspections get done. Proving they were done is the part that costs you.
Every anchor point's record, straight across the whole site
A spreadsheet lists every point, and each new one has to be typed in by hand.
A wall chart only shows what was there the day it was printed.
Without a record to check, "it was inspected sometime last year" is the best answer there is.
One anchor point's full history lives across three separate systems, none of them complete.

Every lifting point and anchor bolt, examined on time
LOLER regulation 9 requires a thorough examination of lifting equipment at least every 12 months, and every 6 months for equipment that lifts people and for lifting accessories, unless a written examination scheme sets other intervals.
In Papertrail, each lifting point and anchor bolt can have its own record and its own examination schedule. You're alerted before each one is due, the examiner records the result on site, and the inspection is recorded, so its full history is one search away.

Frequently asked questions
Will my team actually adopt it?
Papertrail is built around the inspection your team already does: scan the item, work through the checklist, save. When a question comes up, support's average first response time is under 8 minutes.
How do we get every lifting point and anchor bolt set up, not just the newest?
Your account doesn't start empty. Papertrail builds new accounts from industry-specific templates, so your account opens with the folder structure, examination frequencies, equipment states and record blueprint suited to lifting and anchor-point inspection, not a blank account you configure yourself. Bringing your existing equipment list and inspection history across is a separate step, and we help you do it.
How do I record inspection history for a specific anchor point?
Every lifting point and anchor bolt gets its own record, tagged with a unique serial number and location. Search by that serial number and its full examination history is there: every checklist, every certificate, every note, in the order it happened.
How often does LOLER require a thorough examination?
It depends on what the point is used for. LOLER Regulation 9 sets a 6-month interval for lifting equipment and accessories used to lift people, and for lifting accessories generally, and a 12-month interval for other lifting equipment, unless a written examination scheme sets different intervals. Which interval applies to a specific anchor bolt depends on its use, and Papertrail runs each on its own schedule rather than one fixed interval across your whole register.
Who can sign off a lifting point's thorough examination?
LOLER doesn't set a formal qualification for this, but HSE's own guidance expects someone independent of routine maintenance, with enough practical and theoretical knowledge of the equipment to spot a defect. Papertrail doesn't decide who that is: each schedule carries its own list of who's authorised to sign it off, so only someone you've named as competent can close one out.
