What are ISO 45001, 9001 and 14001?
ISO 45001 (occupational health and safety), ISO 9001 (quality) and ISO 14001 (environmental) are international standards for management systems. They're voluntary: an organisation chooses to be certified, and an accredited certification body audits it against the standard, then keeps checking at regular surveillance audits.
The three share the same clause structure, so an auditor asks for similar evidence under each:

Frequently asked questions
What's the difference between ISO 45001, 9001 and 14001?
ISO 45001 covers occupational health and safety, ISO 9001 covers quality, and ISO 14001 covers environmental management. They share the same clause structure, so many organisations run them as one integrated management system and are audited against all three together.
Is ISO 45001 a legal requirement?
No. It's a voluntary standard. UK health and safety law, such as the Health and Safety at Work etc. Act 1974, applies whether or not you're certified.
Did ISO 45001 replace OHSAS 18001?
Yes. ISO 45001 was published in 2018 and replaced OHSAS 18001.
